Training workshop for investigators «Coercive measures in criminal proceedings: international standards and national legislation»

On October, 9, 2019, the training workshop for investigators «Coercive measures in criminal proceedings: international standards and national legislation» was organized in Minsk

by the Council of Europe and the Institute for Retraining and Qualification Upgrading of Judges, Prosecutors and Legal Professionals at the Belarusian State University. The workshop was held in the frame of programme “Partnership for Good Governance II” and project “Implementation of Judicial Reforms” (Component 1: Strengthening the right to fair trial in Belarusian criminal justice).

The seminar was attended by 25 investigators of the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Belarus, specializing in the investigation of corruption and economic crime.

Experts from the Council of Europe, representatives of the Institute for Retraining and Qualification Upgrading of Judges, Prosecutors and Legal Professionals at the Belarusian State University, the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Belarus, and the General Prosecutor of the Republic of Belarus made presentations during the seminar.

The presentations were devoted to the problems of the application of measures of criminal procedural coercion in pre-trial proceedings.

Programme “Partnership for Good Governance II” is co-funded by the European Union and the Council of Europe and implemented by the latter.
